Crystals that should not be cleansed by water

Look at the image of crystals; can you spot something in common amongst these crystals? That’s right… They all end in “ite”

If you’re not good at remembering which crystals are water safe then a general rule you can use to help you to remember is that most crystals ending in “ite” are not water safe.

This means you should not cleanse these crystals with water.

Not all crystals ending in “ite” can be damaged by water. For example, Moldavite and Dumortierite are water safe.

It depends on what rating the crystal has on Mohs hardness scale. Generally ratings of 6 and above are deemed water safe. However, it does also depend on the crystal’s mineral composition. What compounds the crystal is made up of. For example, some crystals contain iron and iron rusts so crystals containing iron should not be cleansed by water.
